Thank you for checking out my page. You may or may not know but my beautiful mother, Jody, lost her courageous battle with ALS in November 2016. She was "officially" diagnosed in October 2015 but she had been having symptoms for several months before. After seeing numerous doctors and having every test known to man, our worst fear became a reality. In just a little over a year's time, my mom would go from a fully functioning, capable, talkative adult to complete paralysis, unable to move, walk, speak or eat. She was only 58 years old. Through the whole ordeal, however, my mom maintained a positive and feisty attitude. She never gave up! The battle was not only hard on her, but on myself and my family. Will and I moved her in to our home (when I was 6 months pregnant) and I became her full time caretaker. She did go to a nursing home for the last part of my pregnancy but then came back home to us. That was (and still is) one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Not just from a physical standpoint but to watch someone battle this disease was so emotionally and mentally challenging. The disease is costly to manage and help is difficult to come by (home health aides no showed A LOT!). We will walk in her memory and hope that we can raise money to find a cure or to help another person and their family face this battle. Why We Need Your Help

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
