Frank Mayak Support Group (Johnstown)
The ALS Clinic at the John P. Murtha Neuroscience & Pain Institute hosts a free monthly support group for individuals with ALS, their families, caregivers and friends. This casual forum is a chance to find out about the latest clinical trials, learn new ways to ease the physical and emotional stress of ALS or just get together with special friends who truly understand what you’re going through. Teleconferencing capabilities are available to those who are unable to attend but would like to participate.

On-Line Resource Group
A monthly on-line resource groups provides the opportunity for patients, caregivers, family and friends to participate in on-line educational programs on topics related to caring and living with ALS.
Alternative Resource Group Options
Options are available for patients and caregivers who are interested in support groups in other areas of Western Pennsylvania.
Bereavement Support Groups
The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the ALS Association has partnered with the Good GriefCenter for Bereavement Support, a service of Ursuline Support Services, and will be offering a series of bereavement support groups. The group will meet weekly for six weeks and will provide education and support on how to effectively cope with and better handle the mourning process. Click here for more information.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational series designed to provide you with the tools you need totake care of yourself. This program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence,communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions andlocate helpful resources. Classes consist of six sessions held once a week.
